Home is within the heart of your soul...

Some days I wake up anxious, not because I’m stressed out about money or work or whatever problem I am in reality, probably privileged to have. I wake up anxious because I feel trapped, stuck in the monotony of day to day life.

Though I often thrive with the pulse of city life, and I am content in the stability of home, place, and routine, I find myself craving new places and things, excitement, wonder and awe. I want to humble myself in nature, feel small, and become more grounded in the unfamiliar.

Just as there is the balance between light and dark, there is the balance of the internal and the external at work within you.

Day to day life is a time for me to reflect inward, to exercise my creativity, to be in solitude, alone with myself and my passions and goals. It is a time for me to read books, practice yoga, write, cook, enjoy time with friends, and to be in love with my partner.

Adventure and travel are things that live in my external world. They’re new, they’re different, constantly teaching, showing me new perspectives, giving me new ideas and things to ponder.

If you sometimes feel the same sense of uneasiness you should know this…

I’ve realized that our desires to experience the new, the unknown, the unfamiliar doesn’t always mean that we must go hike to the top of that mountain, or drive in a car hours and hours to find yourself someplace new. That adventurous side of you need only to look inward and discover that there is a whole world within you, and that you’ve barely even left the trailhead…

“There is something ancient at work in us creating novelty…ln each person, there is a point of absolute non-connection with everything else and with everyone… It means we cannot continue to seek outside ourselves for the things we need from within… These gifts can only be given to you by yourself. They are at home at the hearth of your soul.”
